MADRID, 19 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Laia Sanz (Astara) was very satisfied this Friday with the achievement of finishing the Dakar Rally for the fourteenth consecutive edition, in 15th position and on the final podium in the two-wheel drive category, while she valued the edition of these weeks as the “most beautiful” of those held in Saudi Arabia, “a real Dakar”.

“I loved this edition. I think it has been a real Dakar; it has not only been racing, which is clear that it has to be done, but above all we have had to manage the race, endure and take care of the mechanics. It has been very hard, and this was missed. Without a doubt, for me it was the most beautiful that has been held in Saudi Arabia,” he said in statements provided by his press department after the last stage of the Dakar 2024.

“I think a Dakar has to be like this, because I consider that when you finish it has more value. Now it's time to go for the 15th,” added Sanz, who continues to expand her record, with eleven participations on a motorcycle and three in a car completed without failure in the most demanding rally in the world. The Catalan surpassed herself and finished in fifteenth position.

“I feel very proud to have finished my 14th consecutive Dakar, since it is a very difficult thing. Yesterday, for example, we were on the verge of not being able to finish. Many things happen in this race, and even more so in the car, because the mechanics “It's more complicated than the bike, so I'm very happy to have finished it and to have finished in the Top 15 overall and third in the category,” she said.

The one from Corbera de Llobregat also highlighted her good feelings in the race. “I think I have taken a step forward. We are left, more than with the result, with the feeling that when we have been able to do a clean stage, we have gone fast and we have done very good partials. This motivates us a lot, because we have seen that we can be even further ahead,” he said.

“We have to continue working, but I get very positive things from this Dakar. I think the result could have been even better, because we had small problems this second week, but we are proud of having managed well, since this rally is also about this is over.
