La Sella Open premieres its record with the Spanish Nuria Iturrioz

MADRID, 23 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish golfer Nuria Iturrioz prevailed this Sunday in the first edition of La Sella Open, appointment of the Ladies European Tour, with an epic finish on the second hole of the playoff ‘playoff’ against the German Laura Fuenfstueck.

Iturrioz signed her fourth victory on the Circuit and reaffirmed herself as one of the best Spanish golfers in a tournament that distributed the largest prize pool in the history of women’s golf in Eppaña (one million euros).

In a new event that was born with the intention of progressing on par with men’s golf, Iturrioz, the best of a vibrant competition, overcame a dramatic finale and two record-breaking first days of the course by the Swedish Sara Kjellker.

“I have fought for the victory until the last moment and not letting my guard down is what has made me win. Because in many moments I saw him lost, I saw that the reaction had not fully materialized. But, on the 12th hole, I told myself that I had to change”, Iturrioz related about his Sunday.

“The final two ‘birdies’ before the ‘playoff’ and the ‘birdie’ on the first of the playoff holes, more than decisive. I share the award with everyone, but I dedicate it to my grandmother, who today is her birthday”, he added with a big smile, in statements provided by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG).
