La Ponferradina will travel to Anduva without its Iranian ‘shield’

SD Ponferradina will visit the Anduva stadium next Sunday to face CD Mirandés without their regular goalkeeper, the Iranian international Amir Abdzadeh, summoned with his national team for the qualifying matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup against South Korea and Lebanon.

Despite the fact that the Persian team has already achieved its World Cup ticket, the Deportivo goalkeeper has been summoned again for this double appointment, inconsequential for the classification and that will entail losing the match against the wild boar team.

It so happens that in Abedzadeh’s previous absences this season, the Bercian team never got the victory in LaLiga SmartBank, being his substitute on all occasions the Colombian U21 international Lucho García.

With the goalkeeper from Barranquilla, Deportiva fell to CD Tenerife (2-0), Burgos (1-0), Real Oviedo (2-0) and again CD Tenerife, but in the second leg at El Toralín (1-2) , starting as the only positive result the tie in Ipurua -since it could not be played at the Reale Arena- against Real Sociedad B (1-1).

The presence of the former Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper is not so guaranteed on this occasion since Sergi Puig has also entered several of the team’s recent calls as a substitute for the Iranian international and, to his participation in the Copa del Rey, he could now add his league debut in Anduva.

In the 27 games that Abedzadeh has started with SD Ponferradina, he has conceded as many goals -27-, for a total of 2,430 minutes of play.
