BARCELONA, 3 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Iztulia Basque Country organization has invited five teams from the second UCI ProTeams category to this year’s edition, which will be held from April 4 to 9, including the four Spaniards as well as the French TotalEnergies.
In addition to the 18 UCI WorldTeams -the highest category of professional cycling-, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, Burgos-BH, Euskaltel-Euskadi and Equipo Kern Pharma, in addition to TotalEnergies, will be in the next Itzulia.
Itzulia had the obligation to invite the Belgian Alpecin-Fenix and the French Team Arkéa Samsic for the status of the best teams in the 2021 UCI ranking, but both teams rejected the invitation.
“Itzulia will once again have the best teams on the international calendar and surely the best cyclists. We are happy to be able to continue counting on the home and national teams,” assured the president of Itzulia, Julián Eraso.
In this sense, he added that it is “very important” to give the UCI ProTeams the opportunity to show that they have a “high level” and that “every day they put on a show”.
