Kyle Hines, chosen Best Defender of the Euroleague

MADRID, 10 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The North American center of AX Armani Exchange Milan Kyle Hines has been named ‘Best Defender’ of the Euroleague in the 2021-22 season, an award he has won for the third time in his career and of which, at 35 years old, he has become the player older to get it.

Kyle Hines has been a fundamental part of the defensive network of the Italian team, which has only received an average of 71.9 points per game, the fewest in the entire competition. Despite being a veteran player and not reaching 2.00 meters in height, the center is one of the most active players on the court, using great intensity to stop his opponents near the basket.

In the vote, the American beat Real Madrid player Walter Tavares, twice chosen as ‘Best Defender’, FC Barcelona guard Nick Calathes, Pierria Henry, from Fenerbahçe, and Briant Dunston, from Anadolu Efes, who also knows what it is to win the award.

Kyle Hines thus becomes the second player to be named ‘Best Defender’ three times, although he is still far from the five achieved by the Greek Dimitris Diamantidis, point guard and Panathinaikos legend.
