Kvaratskhelia leaves Naples to join PSG

MADRID 17 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Georgian attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia became a new Paris Saint-Germain player this Friday, coming from Naples, a club with which he won the Italian League in 2023, being the MVP of the championship, with a contract until 2029.

“Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 23-year-old winger, who will wear the number 7, becomes the first Georgian player in the club’s history,” noted the official website of the French team without give figures for a transfer that local media put at 70 million euros.

Born in Tbilisi, Kvaratskhelia made his name known in Europe with his short but intense career at Napoli. The young left winger rose through the ranks of Dinamo Tbilisi before making his debut in the Erovnuli Liga (Georgian championship) in September 2017.

A year later, the attacker joined FC Roustavi as a free player before being loaned, in 2019, to Lokomotiv Moscow for half a year. In search of minutes, he signed for Rubin Kazan in the summer of 2019, where he established himself as one of the most promising talents in the Russian league later also at Dinamo Batumi.

Kvaratskhelia continued his meteoric career and reached a new level by joining Napoli in 2022. In his first campaign in Calcio, the Georgian led the Neapolitan club to Serie A as MVP and top assist of the league championship.

“The project was what convinced me to come here. I know what the club wants to achieve and how it works with the players. That fits with who I am; many great players have played here. I didn’t think much about it when I had the opportunity to come to Paris,” said the former Napoli player in his first interview with the PSG media, delighted with the transfer and with being under the command of Spanish coach Luis Enrique Martínez.

“He is one of the best coaches in the world. I know that I am going to learn a lot working with him, and I am very happy to become a player coached by Luis Enrique. I want to experience new challenges by coming here to Paris, new dreams, new objectives. “I want to improve to help the team as much as possible and give my best,” he concluded.
