Kroos: “The finals are there to be won and not always to shine”

MADRID, 7 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos highlighted the difficulty they encountered this Saturday in the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna, where without “shining” they achieved a title that the white team had not won since 2014.

“It’s what I was missing, it’s true. It’s an important title for me. I always wanted to win everything with Real Madrid. It’s done, I’m very happy and we have to celebrate,” he said in statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press, from La Cartuja (Seville).

In addition, Kroos highlighted the importance of Vinicius in the game, and the moments of suffering from the ‘rojilla’ reaction. “If you have a player like Vinicius he has to try to take advantage of his speed. He has given us a lot of superiority on his side”, he pointed out.

“It’s never easy, we’ve seen it today. It’s been a very difficult match. It wasn’t our best day but it’s normal, you have an opponent who gives up his life. In the end we were able to improve a bit after his goal. The finals are to be won and not always to shine,” he added.

On the other hand, the German player referred to Tuesday’s Champions League semifinal match against Manchester City. “He is the most difficult opponent you can face, but we have confidence, we are Real Madrid and we are going to try to win,” he settled.
