Kontaveit scores a grand final against Sakkari in Saint Petersburg

The Estonian tennis player Anett Kontaveit won (5-7, 7-6(4), 7-5) this Sunday over the Greek Maria Sakkari to win the sixth title of her career, extending her indoor streak, in the final of the tournament WTA 500 in Saint Petersburg.

Kontaveit lifted his fourth consecutive indoor title, 20 wins in a row indoors, with a great comeback over Sakkari. The Estonian shone again in an intense three-hour final to win her fifth title in seven months.

After finding himself on the ropes from below also in the second set, Kontaveit began his comeback by forcing the third act in sudden death. Sakkari took command of the final again with a 1-4 that turned the Estonian into an epic title in Russia.
