Koke, ruled out for the final because of a muscle problem

MADRID, 10 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The captain of Atlético de Madrid, Jorge Resurrección 'Koke', has been ruled out for the final of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday against Real Madrid due to muscular discomfort in his right thigh that forced him to be replaced in the semifinal against Barcelona .

“The first examination carried out by the medical services of the club suggests a muscular lesion in the hamstrings of the right thigh. More tests will be performed upon arrival in Madrid,” Atlético said in a statement.

Koke had not played since last December 14, when he suffered a muscle elongation in the right thigh against Osasuna, and returned to action in the semifinal of the Super Cup after losing the duels against Betis and Levante.

The captain went to the field to rest and his reappearance was initially unbeatable, as he scored in the first minute of the second half, but then returned to suffer discomfort and in 72 he had to be replaced by Marco Llorente.
