Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp said on Wednesday that he will not let his players go with the national teams in the March break if they have to quarantine for ten days on their return to the UK. The Brazilians Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, and the Portuguese Diogo Jota, if they had to go to their countries, since they were on the United Kingdom's red list for variants, would have to do a mandatory quarantine on the way back in a hotel.
“We don't have to let the players go and all the clubs agree that we can't let them go and then do a 10-day quarantine,” Klopp told a news conference.
“I understand the different needs of the federations, but we are at a time when not everyone can be satisfied and the players are paid by the clubs. This means that we have to be the priority,” said the German.
Klopp is also unsure what the measures will look like once they leave the club's bubble and admitted his concerns about new positives after the break.
“I am worried, yes, when someone has to get out of the bubble. There have been cases in ours as well, but not for a long time and it has never spread. There were more cases the last time there was an international stop, like at Christmas. It is a real challenge, “said the coach 'red', who for Thursday's game against Chelsea recovers Alisson and Fabinho.
