“this is super news, really super news,” Klopp told the club’s official media. “I am very grateful to everyone at the club for making it possible. We have shown determination and ambition in equal parts.”
“Darwin is a wonderful player; It’s already really good, but it has a lot of potential to improve even more. That’s why it’s so exciting, to be honest. His age (22), his desire, his hunger to be even better than he is today. His belief in our project and what we seek to do as a club,” he added.
The German also analyzed Darwin’s game. “He’s as excited for us as we are for him, which makes the relationship is excellent, when you appreciate the strengths of each one. That is certainly the case here. He thinks it’s right for him and we think he’s right for us, so let’s do it,” he commented.
For Klopp, Darwin “has all the pieces we are looking for. He can set a pace, he brings energy, he can threaten space from central and wide areas. He is aggressive and dynamic with his movement. He plays without fear, he is powerful. I know it will excite our fans. We already have wonderful attacking options and he becomes a part of that now. So there is no pressure on him at all. He signs for a long time and we intend to nurture his talent and watch him grow.”
