King Harald of Norway, “stable” in hospital, after being admitted for an infection: Haakon, in command

The monarch of Norway Harald V, 85, is “stable” after being admitted to a hospital in the capital on Sunday, December 18, due to an infection. The monarch has required intravenous antibiotic treatment. This admission has taken place only a few days after he presided over the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony and the subsequent gala dinner at the Grand Hotel in Oslo.

It is not the first episode of illness that Harald has faced throughout this year. Last November he was out with a cold. Months before he passed the covid and in August he also had to be hospitalized for another infection. At the beginning of last year, the Norwegian king underwent surgery on his leg, after he underwent surgery to replace an artificial heart valve.

During his hospital leave, it is his son Haakon who assumes the weight of the official agenda. The 49-year-old prince is the first in the line of succession. Just a few weeks ago, his sister, Princess Marta Luisa, resigned from her official functions for love of her boyfriend Durek. In accordance with her father, the king, and her closest family, Marta Luisa announced “that she will not carry out official tasks for the Royal House,” read the statement that was released on November 8.
