Kimmich saves Germany against Italy

The great classic between Italy and Germany ended in a draw this Saturday in Bologna (1-1 in group 3 of League A of the Nations League). Lorenzo Pellegrini advanced to the ‘azzurri’, who had just lost the Finalissima 3-0 against Argentina, but three minutes later Joshua Kimmich avoided the defeat of the German team in the debut of both teams in the new edition of the Nations League.

Despite the fact that in the 35th minute, in a balanced first half, Scamacca hit the post, the spectators gathered at the Renato dall’Ara stadium had to wait no less than 70 minutes to see a goal.

And it was Italy, this Italy of Roberto Mancini hurt by his defeat against Leo Messi’s team, the one that marked him. Pellegrini got it by taking advantage of a cross from Wilfried Gnont, who made his debut for the Italian national team (he came on in the 65th minute to replace Politano). Sule and Neuer were not entirely successful in the move.

Mancini had changed 10 of the players who started against Argentina. Only the ‘azzurro’ goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, repeated ownership.

Germany, in whose ranks Serge Gnabry wasted a great opportunity in minute 39, did not take long, when Pellegrini scored, even three minutes to get equality back on the scoreboard. After consulting with the VAR, the referee considered the goal scored by Kimmich valid, which allowed Germany to remain undefeated since Hansi Flick became their coach in August 2021.

After a touch from Werner and a mistaken intervention from Acerbi, Hoffmann sent the ball and, with his right, Kimmich beat Donnarumma.
