MADRID, 23 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Spanish cyclist Francisco ‘Kiko’ Galván will remain in the ranks of the Kern Pharma Team until the end of 2026 after both parties reached an agreement for the extension of the contract of the 26-year-old rider from Lliçà d’Amunt (Barcelona).
“The Kern Pharma Team announces that it will continue to count on Kiko Galván in its ranks for the next two seasons. The Catalan has completed the current season at a high level and will complete almost a decade in 2025 alongside the structure that has seen him grow and train as a rider,” announced Kern Pharma.
For the team, which was one of the revelations of La Vuelta 24, the Catalan is experiencing “a year of confirmations” so far in 2024, having seen that it is in the classics – Belgian and French – where his characteristics “take on greater relevance” and allow him to be in the fight for the top positions.
“These are races that suit me very well and in which I feel very comfortable. In 2025 I would like to focus again on this calendar and try to take another step forward,” said the rider in statements provided by the team.
So far, Galván has achieved twelve ‘Top 10’ finishes this season – five of them in one-day races – and is looking to the future with optimism. “I am very proud to continue in this team for two more seasons and to find new objectives. This year we have had a lot of presence in France and Belgium and I have really enjoyed it,” he acknowledged.
The general manager of the Kern Pharma Team, Juanjo Oroz, said that it is a “luxury” to continue “growing together.” “We believe that we will see the best of Kiko in the next two years. We are happy that he has found his place in a calendar that requires us to evolve. It is an important challenge, but Kiko has already shown that he can do very well there and the team fully trusts him,” he added.
