Finally, the Princess of Wales did not travel to Paris to attend the Olympic Games, which ended this Sunday, August 11. However, together with her husband, Kate Middleton has reappeared in a video to congratulate English athletes after their achievements (14 golds, 22 silvers and 29 bronzes). From the video, however, What has drawn the most attention is a detail related to William of England.
The son of Charles III appears with an image to which we are not at all accustomed: with a beard of several days and sporting a sporty lookspecifically a polo shirt that reads ‘Team Great Britain’.
The video features not only them, but also a host of other UK personalities. American rapper and producer Snoop Dogg also features David Beckham, Rebecca Adlington, Gabby Logan, Sir Chris Hoy, Dame Kelly Holmes, Mark Chapman, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Colin Jackson, Emma Willis, Greg James, Andrew Cotter, Michael Johnson and Clare Balding.
“From all of us watching from home, congratulations to Team Great Britain”Kate says in the video. And William: “Congratulations on everything you have achieved”.
On the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media pages, they also wrote: “Well done Great Britain. What an incredible journey! All the athletes showed immense dedication, heart and passion. They made us so proud! Here’s to celebrating the triumph in Paris and looking forward to more of this summer’s Paralympic Games.”
It should be remembered that neither Kate nor William have made an appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, although there was speculation in the English press that both would be present in the final stretch of the tournament. This is the most difficult summer for both of them due to the cancer that George, Charlotte and Louise’s mother has been suffering from for a few months. Neither Charles III, who is still recovering from his cancer despite resuming his commitments almost normally, nor Queen Camilla travelled there. The Royal Family was represented by Princess Anne.
We already told that Kate and William spent part of the summer with their children in Tresco, an island to the east. south-west England where they enjoyed a few days of sun and beach. The Olympic video, on the other hand, was recorded in Norfolk, in the garden of Anmer Hall, one of their favourite summer retreats.
