Kamil Majchrzak of Poland fails a doping control

MADRID, 9 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak, current number 77 in the ATP ranking, has announced that he tested positive for several anti-doping controls during the months of October and November, although he has assured that he “never” consciously took any prohibited substance.

“I have to share with all of you incredibly sad and difficult news. I have tested positive for anti-doping controls during October and November 2022,” he confirmed in a post on his social networks.

However, the 26-year-old insisted that he did not knowingly consume or administer a prohibited substance. “I have never, ever knowingly taken any banned substance. At this point I have no idea what has happened and this is the biggest shock. I have begun the most difficult fight of my life: the fight to prove my innocence and get back to the sport that I love,” he said.

Majchrzak is the third player to test positive for a banned substance in recent months, after Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, who tested positive for methylphenidate due to an oversight in the renewal of the medical exemption for the medication to treat his ADHD; and the Romanian Simona Halep, for Roxadustat.
