Justice dismisses a lawsuit in which Real Madrid claimed almost € 24 M from LaLiga

The court of first instance number 67 of Madrid has completely dismissed the lawsuit of Real Madrid in which the white club challenged the approval of the annual accounts of LaLiga corresponding to the 2018-2019 season and demanded the payment of 23,892,977 from the employer , 46 euros, as reported by the league itself in a statement. In her ruling, the judge dismissed the lawsuit of Real Madrid in its entirety, absolving LaLiga of all claims made against it.

LaLiga considers that this resolution is of great importance because it highlights the “unequivocal” role that LaLiga has in the commercial management of audiovisual rights. and the obligation that this entails to guarantee optimal management and investment in order to obtain the highest possible economic return from the commercialization of audiovisual rights.

The judgment also confirms that, in accordance with the terms of the Royal Decree-Law, LaLiga is attributed, in addition to commercialization, the power to produce the television broadcast of the matches, in order to make audiovisual content more attractive and increase its value. In this sense, LaLiga is congratulated because the ruling “highlights the importance of anti-piracy activity insofar as it contributes to the maintenance and increase of value”.

And remember that the right to information of the partners is not unlimited and cannot be led to the paroxysm of a situation that prevents or hinders the correct and normal functioning of LaLiga.
