MADRID, 31 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Trinidad Alfonso Foundation celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2022 with a round figure: the 100 million euros invested in sport in the Valencian Community by its president, Juan Roig, since its birth.

The director of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, Juan Miguel Gómez, detailed the data at an informative breakfast held this Friday at the entity’s headquarters. Gómez explained that Roig has invested 12 million euros in 2022 to continue promoting more than 50 projects divided into three different lines of work: grassroots sports, events and athletes and clubs.

The investment in the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation in 2022 has been allocated to a multitude of initiatives, among which the Marathon, the Valencia Half Marathon and the FER Project stand out, as well as others such as Dia de l’Esport, the Support Program to Competitions or aid to the clubs and teams of the Valencian Community.

Among the major milestones among these initiatives, the Spanish women’s marathon record stands out and the fact that the test has become the second fastest in the world, only surpassed by the Berlin Marathon. The economic impact of the test, estimated at 27 million euros by the Valencian Institute of Economic Research; or the participation records in both the half marathon, with more than 17,000 finishers, and Dia de l’Esport, with more than 250,000 participating boys and girls, speak of higher numbers than in the pre-pandemic era.

In total, the Foundation has more than 400,000 boys, girls and young people who are beneficiaries of some of its actions. From the FER Play or Esport a l’Escola +1h EF sessions, which take place in the different educational centers, to Dia de l’Esport, which in 2022 mobilized more than 250,000 schoolchildren, in addition to the ‘Community of clubs’ program itself ‘, which has reached thousands of children from the more than 1,000 clubs in the Valencian Community that have the support of the Foundation.

Regarding support for athletes and teams, the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation has once again developed the FER Project, which also celebrated its tenth edition last year: 142 athletes received scholarships directly thanks to this initiative. To these must be added the beneficiaries of modernization scholarships, thanks to agreements with different Valencian federations, and the members of the 40 national first or second category teams.
