Juan Cruz Sol dies, history of Valencia

At the age of 73, this Tuesday he died in Valencia, the historic former player of the club Mestalla Juan Cruz Sol, as confirmed by his family.

Born in Elgoibar (Guipuzkoa) played for Valencia between 1965 and 1975, before being transferred to Real Madrid, in which he played for four seasons. After them he returned to the Mestalla club where he spent two more seasons until his retirement in 1981. In total, he was an absolute international on 28 occasions.

Sol was a Valencia delegate and is currently the club's ambassador and also a member of its board of directors.

The former player, former delegate and also former coach Salvador González ‘Voro’ stressed that despite the “war wounds” that he carried due to his injuries, he never lost his smile. “It is a sad day because Juan was an endearing person, with a big heart, a very good person,” he said.

“It was impossible to get along with him, it was impossible for him to have enemies and everyone loved him,” he said.

His death comes just a few weeks after that of the historic ex-utility Españeta. “It is the law of life, but without detracting anyone, we have left two people who gave us joy and optimism, who taught you about life,” said former player Miguel Ángel Bossio.

Also from the presidency of the club and from the current squad, signs of pain have arrived and players like José Luis Gayà, Toni Lato or Carlos Soler have shown their regret.

“I met you when I got to the first team and you always accompanied us on trips with a tremendous smile and kindness,” recalled Soler, who confessed that he will miss me calling him a “beast.”

“Surely from heaven you will continue to help us as you always did. Goodbye Loqui. DEP ”wrote Gayà.
