Juan Carlos I goes sailing with El Bribón: neither a photocall in the port nor a neighborhood mass bath

Don Juan Carlos He has left the house of his friend Pedro Campos this morning of Thursday, April 20. He was sitting in the passenger seat with the car window up. He has not wanted to lower the moon. Same as yesterday. Nothing to show or expose themselves to the cameras. He has greeted the press with his right hand, which is stationed at the gate of the Campos property. Around 11:30 he has arrived at the Sanxenxo Yacht Club. And at this point he has radically changed the scenery compared to 2022. Neither reception nor applause nor neighborhood mass bath. And, above all, no photocall. No posed photos. The impromptu television set that we saw last year at the sports club has nothing to do with the image of a private welcome that he has received this year.

Around 11:30 a.m., after a journey of almost 45 minutes, it has arrived at the Sanxenxo marina. The days before the arrival of Don Juan Carlos, the Bribón appeared sheltered under a tarpaulin. This morning she was already ready to go sailing.

Felipe VI’s father, wearing a nautical vest and cap, carried a cane in his right hand, which he has handed over to his assistant. Both have prepared to go down the very narrow stairs that led to the jetty. The emeritus, attached to the arm of his assistant, has descended the 21 concrete steps. His step was firm, despite the obvious mobility problems that he has and that are typical of his age, 85 years old.

There, on the jetty, he received the greetings of his fellow racers. Around 11:42 he has climbed aboard the Bribón and, always, with help, has sat in front of the mast. Thus he has begun his dream of racing again in the waters of the Galician estuary of Pontevedra.
