José Luis Martínez Almeida (48) y Teresa Urquijo (27) are celebrating. The mayor of Madrid and his twenty-something girlfriend have made their marriage proposal official this Saturday at the farm that the Urquijo family owns in Los Molinillos (Navalagamella) 50 kilometers from the center of Madrid. With his nerves on edge, the politician was the first to arrive at the venue.
The mayor has appeared alone, driving his own car and with a big smile on his face. The politician has arrived at the farm with enough time to have everything prepared and offer his guests the best service.
Three months before the wedding, Martínez Almeida and Teresa Urquijo have gathered their family and their closest friends in the same place where they will celebrate their wedding on April 6. Among the guests is Carmen Fernandez de Araozthe grandmother of the fiancée, who is a direct family of the Bourbons.
As tradition dictates, the mayor is expected to give his fiancée an engagement ring. For her part, the investment analyst and her family will reciprocate the groom with a watch.
On April 6, just a few days before the politician turns 49, the religious wedding will be celebrated in the chapel of the estate. Afterwards, the celebration will continue at El Canto de la Cruz farm, property of the young woman's paternal grandmother.
Teresa Urquijo came into her future husband's life when he had lost hope in love. He himself told it in a romantic post on Instagram. “Once they asked me about sentimental questions. I answered that neither rush nor resign, it is obvious that I have not rushed, but I was almost resigned. Until she appeared. And Teresa has said yes to me,” she wrote.
The mayor of Madrid and his girlfriend made their relationship official last June in Madrid's Plaza de las Ventas, six months after beginning their discreet courtship.
