The former Newcastle and Manchester City player was on trial for assaulting Barnsley coach Daniel Stendel in April 2019
Former Manchester City midfielder, Joey Barton, was declared innocent Monday of assaulting the then Barnsley manager, Daniel Stendel, after a third division game between his team then, Fleetwood Town and Barnsley, both from League One (English third), in April of 2019.
Barton, now the Bristol Rovers fourth division (League Two) manager, was coaching Fleetwood Town at the time and had denied shoving Stendel into the Oakwell Stadium locker room tunnel.
Barton, 39, was acquitted of a charge of battery causing actual bodily harm after the trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
