Joel Embiid of the 76ers will not play on Thursday because his knee needs to be checked.

A team official tells ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will not play against the Utah Jazz on Thursday because of an injury to his left knee. The player will get more tests in the next 24 hours.

The official told Wojnarowski that Embiid would likely go back to Philadelphia instead of joining the team in Utah.

Embiid hurt his left knee in the last minute of the 119-107 loss against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

With 4:04 left in the game, Embiid got hurt while being screened by Jonathan Kuminga or Draymond Green of the Warriors.

Iverson dropped to the ground to get the ball after Kuminga poked it away from him, and Kuminga then fell on top of him.

It was clear that Embiid was in pain when he grabbed the knee. He finally got up and limped towards the locker room. He didn’t come back to the game. Embiid missed the last two games for the Sixers because of pain in the same knee.

He scored 14 points, made 5 of 18 shots, grabbed 7 rebounds, gave 2 assists, and had a net rating of -21, which was the lowest on the team.

His 70 points and 18 rebounds helped the team beat the Spurs from San Antonio 133–124 on January 22. It was the most points ever scored by the team.

Embiid also missed a trio of games in January because his left knee was swollen. Ramona Shelburne of ESPN said that Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers will have to deal with the injury for the rest of the season.

The NBA’s current Most Valuable Player, Joel Embiid, can only miss five more games before he can’t be considered for any postseason awards, involving All-NBA team honors and MVP.

This is because the league’s new rule says players must have played at least 65 games to be eligible.

Embiid is continuing to play at an MVP level when he is healthy. With 35.3 points per game, he is the NBA’s top scorer. He also averages 11.3 rebounds or 5.7 assists per game.

The Philadelphia 76ers play their last game of a five-game road trip on Thursday against the Utah Jazz.

The last game they played was on Tuesday, when they lost 119–107 to the Golden State Warriors. They have had a lot of injuries this trip.

Joel Embiid is the player whose injury needs the most attention. The big guy has been hurt in the knee, so he missed both matches on the trip before playing against Golden State.

He didn’t have the same explosion, and it was hard for him to play for 30 minutes. At the end, he had 14 points, seven rebounds, or eight turnovers. He had to leave early because Warriors forward Kuminga had hurt his knee.

Embiid will not play in the last game of the journey against the Utah Jazz because he needs to go back to Philadelphia for more tests. During the whole game against the Soldiers, Embiid didn’t look very healthy.

Embiid, the center for the Philadelphia 76ers, hurt his left knee in Tuesday’s loss of the Golden State Warriors and will not be able to play Thursday at Utah. He is the reigning MVP.

“Embiid’s knee will be looked at more closely over the next 24 hours,” the Sixers said. Embiid scored fourteen goals in that game, but with 4:04 left, he had to limp to the locker room because Golden State’s quarterback Jonathan Kuminga had stepped on his left leg.

Because Embiid has already missed 12 games so far, he may not be able to win his second straight MVP award.

Most of the time, the new agreement on collective bargaining says that players have to play in 65 regular-season games before they can be considered for awards like MVP or the All-NBA teams.
