Joao Félix: “I like having the ball and playing with joy”

MADRID, 11 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Portuguese striker Joao Félix, recently arrived at English Chelsea on loan until the end of the season, acknowledged being “very happy” and wanting to “help the team achieve its objectives”, at the same time that he explained that he is a footballer who likes “to have the ball and play with joy”.

“I am very happy to arrive at Chelsea. It is one of the great teams in the world, and I hope to help the team achieve its objectives. I am very excited to play here and play at Stamford Bridge”, commented the Portuguese in the first interview with London club media.

The Portuguese assured that he was already “focused on helping” his new team. “I will bring my football, my happiness with the ball, to make the fans enjoy. I am a player who likes to have the ball and play with happiness”, he affirmed.

“With Atlético, I played against Chelsea two years ago, when there was no public in the stadiums due to COVID. But I loved the stadium, the public is very close,” settled the striker, who recalled his beginnings with the ball, confessing that already “when I was a child I already thought that I wanted to be a professional player”.

The Portuguese striker will play for Chelsea FC until the end of the season, after Atlético de Madrid, with whom he previously renewed his contract until 2027, and the English club reached an agreement on loan this Wednesday.

In this way, the Portuguese international puts an end, at least for the moment, to his turbulent relationship with Diego Pablo Simeone. Starting seven of the first eight games of the course, his situation changed radically after the defeat in the derby against Real Madrid (1-2). Since then, he has chained nine games as a substitute, a condition that he maintained in ten of the twelve games prior to the World Cup in Qatar.
