Joan Mir: “I could have scored points today”

MADRID, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish rider Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) regretted having to retire from Sunday’s race at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, as he believes that “he could have scored points”, although his teammate Luca Marini, who was ahead of him, was left out.

“Unfortunately, when Morbidelli passed me, I got a warning on the dashboard and I had to retire. Now we will check the bike. It’s a shame because I think I could have scored points today,” Mir said in statements provided by the team.

“My feeling in the race was the best of the whole weekend. We changed the set-up a bit and it was the right choice. I was right behind Luca, monitoring the life of the rear tyre and waiting for the best moment to make a move,” he added.

Luca Marini, meanwhile, was pleased to be able to fight with the LCR Hondas, despite finishing behind both satellite Hondas. “It’s good to be able to continue fighting for first place throughout the weekend, it’s a good step compared to where we’ve been,” he commented.

“We are still a long way from where we want to be, but I think we are getting more and more information about where and how to work. Today we had problems in the first laps, but from the middle of the race we were quite competitive compared to the group,” said the Italian, seventeenth and out of the points once again.
