The president of LaLiga assures that FC Barcelona enters “like the greats of the Premier”

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, asked the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, to find out “before splitting” after the latter’s statements about the television cast and in comparison with the English Premier League.
“Dear Joan Laporta, I’ll give you the data on the television distribution of FC Barcelona, compared to clubs in the Premier League. You are perfectly competitive. LaLiga earns less and you are like the greats of the Premier League. You have to find out before splitting”, Thebes wrote on his Twitter account.
A request that comes after Laporta assured, in this week’s Christmas meeting with the media, that the Premier earned much more money than LaLiga and that the Blaugrana club could not compete against them, in this regard.
“The Premier will go from 5,000 to 7,000 million in investment and we cannot compete in LaLiga with the Premier teams, because they have more resources and this has to change,” Laporta said.
Now, Thebes publishes the income. The six clubs in Europe that entered the most for television rights in the past 2021-22 season are from the Premier League (Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United).
The City entered 176 million euros (6 percent of the total of the Premier League), for 174.6 of Liverpool. The first Spanish club is Real Madrid, the seventh that earned the most with 160.8 million euros, while Barça is the eighth, just behind its great rival, with 160.1 million (10.1 percent of LaLiga, in both cases).
Of the 22 clubs that entered the most for television rights in the past year, 12 (more than half) are from the Premier League, for only 3 from LaLiga (Atlético de Madrid earned 130.3 million, 15th on that list ).
