Javier Tebas, chosen for the Board of Directors of the European Leagues

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, will be part of the Board of Directors of the European Leagues for the cycle between 2025 and 2029, according to the General Assembly of the agency held this week in the German town of Frankfurt.

LaLiga had abandoned this association, which brings together a total of 40 domestic championships, in March 2023 due to the lack of effective actions, but decided to return in October 2024, a return that became official during this assembly in which its members formally approved their readmission.

In addition, according to a statement from this Thursday of the European leagues, the Swiss Claudius Schäfer, CEO of the Swiss League, and his new board of directors in which Javier Tebas will be elected.

“It is a privilege for me to serve as president of the European leagues. We have many challenges ahead, but I am sure that with unity and intense cooperation, we will continue to protect and develop national football in this rapid evolution environment, contributing at the same time to improve the governance of the game for the benefit of all those interested in football,” said Schäfer.
