The current finalist of the AnyTech365 Andalucía Open Challenger 80, the Spanish Jaume Munar, has started his career for the 2021 edition with a hard-fought victory over the Austrian Sebastian Ofner. A very mental game where the seed number three has managed to make a difference in key moments. The scoreboard remained at 7-6 (3) and 6-4 and his victory leads him to repeat last year's quarter-finals against Vit Kopriva.
In the Czech duel of the day, Vit Kopriva (coming from the previous phase), prevailed in three disputed sets to the veteran former top 30 and gscorer of two ATP titles, Lukas Rosol. 6-3; 3-6 and 7-5 was the final result.

Another of the seeds that passed the round was the Italian Gianluca Mager (4) who solved his match against the seeded Carlos Sánchez Jover by 6-3 and 6-2 with solvency. Now he will face the Swede Elias Ymer; the pupil of the double finalist of Roland Garros, Robin Södeling, was undone by 6-1 and 6-2 of the Spanish (coming from the qualifying phase) Javier Barranco Cosano. The Mager-Ymer thus completes the round of 16 at the top of the table.
At the bottom, the French Maxime Janvier eliminated the second favorite, the Slovak Norbert Gombos. A game with alternatives and much disputed that does not cut the negative streak in this season of the 98 tennis player in the world. The final result: 6-4; 6-7 (4) and 6-3.
In the second round, Janvier will face off against Serbian Nikola Milojevic, who extends his winning streak after lifting the trophy in Zadar (Croatia) last week. Milojevic had to overcome the initial set against his compatriot Danilo Petrovic to keep his winning momentum intact on clay.
The start of the day on the center court Manolo Santana, envisioned an even duel between two rackets with a very similar ranking, the Spanish Mario Vilella Martínez and the Italian Lorenzo Giustino. The serve has been the one that has governed throughout the first set until reaching the tiebreaker where the Elche has been better in the key points to finally win the sleeve. From then on, the ball rhythm of Vilella has been imposed, which has resolved the match with a resounding 6-0.
Villela will have a tough opponent in the next round, the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur. Winner of two ATP tournaments and seed number 7, the Balkan beat Spaniard Nikolas Sánchez Izquierdo by a double 6-4, in a match that lasted more than two hours.
For its part, the Puente Romano Beach Resort also witnessed the victory of the seed number 6, the Japanese Taro Daniel. The Japanese tennis player used his experience against the young Swede, Leo Borg; 6-1 and 6-2 against the 17-year-old tennis player and son of former world number one Björn Borg. Daniel will play his place in the quarterfinals against Carlos Gómez-Herrera.
In a wild card duel, Carlos Gómez-Herrera has been able to beat his compatriot Carlos Gimeno Valero. A relentless battle that has been resolved in separate tiebreaks and leaves out last year's quarterfinalist.
