The founder of Mango, Andic sobbeddied this Saturday in a tragic accident while touring the Montserrat mountain, a place he frequented both with his family and alone. The businessman of Turkish origin had decided to take this excursion with his eldest son, Jonathanwith whom he had recently had differences, with the intention of reconciling. According to sources close to the family, father and son managed to make peace within the framework of a walk that began early and in complete privacy, without the businessman’s usual escort.
The route chosen was the path that connects the Sant Nitre caves in Collbató with the Montserrat monastery, a route known for its impressive views and moderate difficulty. During the walk, father and son talked for a long time, managing to overcome the tensions that kept them apart. According to the same sources, after traveling part of the journey together, Andic decided to continue alone along a less traveled path. It was in that section where the fatal accident occurred, when the first-born son of the founder of Mango was already leaving and was a certain distance from his father.
A fatal slip on uneven ground
Jonathan Andic told the Mossos d’Esquadra that he had advanced a few meters along the path while his father followed behind, when he heard a rockfall. When he turned around, he saw his father slip and fall down a ravine approximately 150 meters high. The area where the accident occurred is known for its uneven terrain and unevenness, less frequented and more demanding for hikers.
The son, in a state of shock, immediately called the emergency service at 12:39, according to the report: “My father is unconscious on the floor. I have seen him fall but I cannot access him,” he told 112. Three Mossos patrols, firefighters from the Generalitat, a helicopter and the mountain unit participated in the rescue. Isak Andic’s body was recovered in the afternoon and transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Catalonia, confirming after an investigation that the cause of death was an accident, as we already mentioned.
A goodbye marked by reconciliation
The tragedy has shocked the business and financial world, where Andic was a key figure not only in Spain, but also in Europe. According to the same sources, the decision to take this excursion without security was intended to enjoy a quiet moment with his son, away from the media and business noise. “They had agreed to make peace and they did. It was a reconciliation that leaves comfort in the midst of pain,” says a source who has spoken directly with Isak Andic’s son.
Minutes after the accident, Estefanía Knut, Andic’s girlfriend since 2018, arrived at the scene and joined Jonathan while the specialized teams continued the rescue efforts. Authorities have confirmed that there was no negligence or external factors involved.
