MADRID, 21 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish couple formed by Alisa Ozhogina and Iris Tío finished this Tuesday in fifth position in the preliminary of the free duet modality of the artistic swimming of the World Swimming Championships that Budapest is celebrating.

In their second major international competition after the Tokyo Games last summer, the duo showed their progress, although they fell a little short of the podium. Tío and Ozhogina added 89.9667 points in this preliminary, significantly improving the 88.30 points they achieved in the Japanese capital.

The Spanish, who swam to the rhythm of the chords of ‘Camarón’ by Paco de Lucía and Tomatito, have a hard time getting to the medals since the third position went to the Austrians Eirini Alexandri and Anna-Maria with 92.0667 points. The best score went to the favourites, the Chinese Liuyi Wang and Qinyui Wang (94.5667), followed by the Ukrainians Maryna Aleksiiva and Vladyslava Alekssiva (94.0000).

The objective for Tío and Ozhogina will be to try to give their best version to get as close as possible to the Italians Linda Cerruti and Constanza Ferro (90.533) and, at the same time, defend against the Greeks Sofia Evangelia Malkogeorgou and Evangelia Platanioti (89.3667).
