Iraola: “It seems that salvation is on track, those are the magic words”

MADRID, 23 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Rayo Vallecano coach, Andoni Iraola, confessed that getting something positive out of the Camp Nou this Sunday will be even more complicated because the Catalans lost this week against Cádiz at home, but they will try to put their weapons in search of the goal of salvation, the which, although it is on track, is not done.

“I think that Xavi’s idea has been to reaffirm himself in the Barça that we know. The team is playing with positional play, a dominating team, a lot of pressure after loss, submitting a lot to the rivals and the results are being better”, he said this Saturday in a conference press, prior to the duel against Barça postponed from matchday 21 of LaLiga Santander.

The Rayo coach highlighted the progression of Barça and the changes, in addition to the coach, of the players. “They came with a points deficit and more or less, point up point down, they have followed the scoring rhythm of Real Madrid, which seems to be the champion, but they have equalized the level of points and in the last game they were quite superiors,” he said.

“Aubameyang is giving them a lot of space. They have recovered Dembelé, Adama and Ferrán on the wings, now they have a lot of imbalance. Surely we catch them in better shape than in Vallecas. You play away and the Camp Nou is always difficult. It’s a big field, and they are comfortable, but we have to look at our options and play the best game we can to try to hurry up the options we have”, he added.

Iraola was asked about the possibility of surprising Barça again, as in the 1-0 in Vallecas. “It is perhaps more difficult because they lost the other day against Cádiz, similar to what tomorrow may be for them. They got a scare despite having many chances. They were not successful and the Cádiz goalkeeper was very good. For sure that after taking that stick with you in the next match you are more aware and that is what we expect tomorrow”, he said.

In addition, the Vallecas coach did not reveal whether Radamel Falcao will have minutes, with Saveljich also in doubt, and did not want to talk about his renewal. “It seems that salvation is on track, those are the magic words. What we have to do is seal it and get it, that’s what we’re all focused on. I think there’s no doubt about it and that’s all that concerns the club, me and the players”, he pointed out about his future.

“You have to do your thing, in the end the Camp Nou is a bit about being faithful to what we are: brave, pressing very high at the expense of being able to find spaces or play protected, in a low block. In the end there will be moments for everything We don’t usually change too much, but it’s true that Barça forces you at certain times to play the game that you don’t want and we have to be together and strong”, he finished.
