Infanta Cristina protects Villar Mir’s family at the funeral mass for the businessman who died three months ago

Juan Miguel Villar Mir, founder of the industrial and real estate group that bears his surname, died last July at the age of 92. Almost three months later, familiar faces, friends and family have gathered to say goodbye.

The funeral took place this Thursday, September 26, in the Jerónimos church, in the center of Madrid, and personalities from the world of politics, business and high society traveled there.

Cristina de Borbón Dos Sicilias, Infanta Cristina, Blanca Suelves, Juan Urquijo, Cristina Valls Taberner, María Dolores de Cospedal, Rodrigo Rato, Álvaro Fuster and Juan Villar-Mir, among others, attended this funeral.

The business, economic and political elite of Spain gathered at the Parish of San Jerónimo el Real to say goodbye to the great businessman, three months after his death.

His family dedicated an emotional funeral mass to which we saw his son arrive, Juan Villar Mir, with his wife, Cristina Palaciosand their children. Representing the King’s family was Infanta Cristina, among many other personalities.

Infanta Cristina, who this Wednesday had attended an event for the 50th anniversary of the Dalí Museum with her brother, coincided at the mass with Juan Urquijo, her daughter Irene’s boyfriend. Her close friend and cousin was also in the church, Cristina de Borbón Dos Sicilias, y Alvaro Fuster, great friend of Felipe VI.

The former vice president of the Government Rodrigo Rato and the former president of Castilla La Mancha, María Dolores de Cospedal, Blanca Suelves and Joaquín Güell, heir to one of the great Catalan fortunes, or Cristina Valls Taberner, have also wanted to cover the family in the mass funeral, tribute to the businessman.

On October 5, Constanza, daughter of Juan Villar Mir de Fuentes and Cristina Palacios, marries Daniel, her boyfriend for years, in Seville. Without a doubt, the memory of the bride’s grandfather will be very present in the wedding. His sister Cristina married Eduardo Rodríguez García-Gasco in July 2021 and the wedding took place in Sotogrande.

Juan Miguel Villar Mir, Married since 1958 to Silvia de Fuentes Bescós, mother of his three children, he was one of the most important businessmen in Spain. After Franco’s death, between December 1975 and July 1976, Villar Mir held the vice presidency and the Ministry of Finance during the Government of Carlos Arias Navarro. With a degree in Civil Engineering, he was the founder of the construction company that would become the current OHL, in addition to the Villar Mir Group, which brought together businesses in different sectors, such as energy, iron and steel, biochemical and real estate. His business legacy is immense.
