Ilunion and Bidaideak join Amiab Albacete in the quarterfinals of the European Champions Cup

Ilunion and Bidaideak Bilbao achieved this Saturday, in the group stage of the round of 16, their place in the quarterfinals of the European Champions Cup, a phase in which Amiab Albacete, current continental champion, joins, who will be host of Group B.

Ilunion from Madrid, three-time European champions who played in Group C in the Austrian town of Klosterneuburg, won their four games against Sitting Bulls (Austria), Hamburg (Germany), Handisport de Lannion (France) and Porto Torres (Italy).

For its part, Bidaideak Bilbao finished second in Group A, played in Istanbul, behind Galatasaray. The Basque team beat the Hornets Le Cannet (France) and the Köln 99ers (Germany) and lost to the hosts Galatasaray.

The only Spanish team that was eliminated in the round of 16 was Econy Gran Canaria, which played its matches at the Italian headquarters of Meda and finished third in Group B with a balance of two victories (Italian Santo Stefano and French Meaux) and two defeats. (German Lahn Dill and Italian MIA Briantea84 Cantú).

Once the round of 16 had concluded with the group stage, the quarterfinal pairings were drawn, with Amiab Albacete and the German Thuringia Bulls, exempt from the previous round. In Group A, with Thuringia Bulls as host, Santo Stefano, Ilunion and Galatasaray were drawn; In Group B, with Amiab Albacete as the top seed, are Lahn-Dill, Bidaideak Bilbao and Porto Torres.

The quarterfinals will be played from March 7 to 10. The final four of the Champions Cup will be held in Albacete from May 2 to 5.
