Iga Swiatek is out in Madrid with a shoulder injury

MADRID, 27 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, current number one in the world, will finally not be able to play the Mutua Madrid Open, a WTA 1000 category tournament that begins this Thursday at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, due to an injury to her right shoulder, confirmed this Wednesday the organizers.

The Central European player, champion at Roland Garros in 2020, was the first seed in the women’s draw and came to the Madrid event as the rival to beat since she has accumulated 23 wins in a row and four titles in this 2022 (Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Stuttgart).
