Ice hockey adds two golds for Spain at the Winter Youth Olympic Games

MADRID, Jan. 15 (SportsFinding) –

Spaniards Eva Aizpurua, 14, and Pablo González, 15, have won two gold medals at the Winter Youth Olympic Games on Wednesday, which are being held in Lausanne (Switzerland), in teams 3×3 ice hockey.

Aizpurua and González, with teams composed of athletes of different nationalities, began their journey in this competition last Friday. Aizpurua did it with the yellow team, which until reaching gold has won five wins and three losses. For his part, Gonzalez has played in the green team and has won all his matches except one.

“I am super-religious, I was not expecting it at all. We were going to fight it and in the end we won. Here there is a lot of level, reaching the final and winning was very difficult,” said Aizpurua. And then Gonzalez has described as “intense” the final match for the title. “It has been a bit difficult to communicate among the team members, due to the language; but it has been very good, I did not expect it,” he added.

Even Júlia Tèrmens, component of the brown team, has been classified in the fourth position of this modality. And all this during a day in which Nil Llop has been fourth in the sprint modality of mixed equipment in speed skating.

Meanwhile, Luisa María González's team has finished in seventh place and Carla Álvarez's team in thirteenth place. Next Thursday, starting at 11.30 am, both sprinters will play the 'mass start'.
