Ibrahimovic: “I feel like Benjamin Button, I rejuvenate every year”

The Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Milan striker and, at 39 years old, the top scorer in Serie A with ten goals in just six games played, said this Monday that he feels “like Benjamin Button” and that he rejuvenates every year.

“I consider myself as Benjamin Button, I rejuvenate every year. Until I can, I'll play, I promise. The day I stop performing, I'll stop. I need to feel alive, ”Ibrahimovic said in an interview with UEFA.

“Every time I hit the pitch I feel like a kid eating candy for the first time,” added the 39-year-old veteran Swedish striker.

He returned to Italy last January after an experience at the Los Angeles Galaxy in the United States and has radically changed Milan, helping a young group to win game, confidence and results, until now making it the team that leads the Serie A standings.

“Life is marked by challenges. Coming to Milan was a challenge, trying to change the mentality, for the players to understand what Milan is, the Milan that we all know ”, explained Ibrahimovic.

“When I play I contribute my character, I put a lot of pressure on my teammates to give their best. Then some live this well and others badly. But you have to give up, I decide we must give up every day. The way you train is the way you play, ”he added.

“Whether you are young or old, I pressure you equally. If you are in Milan, it is because you are good. Then, off the field, I treat young people differently. But in the field, they are all the same for me ”, he stressed.

The Swede also acknowledged that the fact that other players failed to return to Milan after an experience away from the club further motivated him.

“I am never satisfied, I always want more. That is why I am here doing what I do. I don't see many players doing what I do, ”he said.
