Iberdrola enables ‘fan zones’ in Valencia, Madrid and Malaga to support Spain in the World Cup

They will be located in the Joaquín Sorolla and María Zambrano train stations and in the Plaza de Callao in the capital.

The energy company Iberdrola will set up ‘fan zones’ in Valencia, Madrid and Malaga to support the Spanish women’s soccer team in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which takes place from July 20 to August 20 and in which Jorge Vilda’s pupils make their debut this Friday (9:30 a.m., Spanish peninsular time) in Auckland against Costa Rica.

With this initiative, Iberdrola, the main sponsor of the Spanish women’s soccer team since 2016, wants soccer fans to be able to experience the World Cup with emotion in the antipodes and, for this, it will open three spaces dedicated to supporters coinciding with the qualifying matches against Costa Rica, Zambia and Japan, on July 21, 26 and 31, respectively.

These areas will be located in the open air of emblematic places in Valencia, Malaga and Madrid and, in them, the most soccer fans will be able to follow the game on a giant screen, share a breakfast, participate in activities, win prizes and send all their energy to the Spanish internationals.

The first stop on this tour will be this Friday, starting at 8:30 a.m., at the Joaquín Sorolla train station in Valencia, with live reactions on Twitch from the most relevant streamers nationwide, such as Gemita, accompanied by the soccer player Virginia Torrecilla.

The María Zambrano train station in Malaga will be the setting chosen for July 26 to follow the Spain-Zambia match on the second day of the group stage, and the Plaza de Callao, on July 31 to experience the excitement of the match between Japan and Spain.

The company promoted women’s football by giving its name to the first division, the Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF since 2016. Later, in 2018, it was renamed Primera Iberdrola, until the 2021-22 season.

With the professionalization of women’s football, the company continues to exercise its commitment by promoting competitions in this sport, such as the Iberdrola Queen’s Cup and the Iberdrola Spanish Super Cup, as well as the Iberdrola First Federation.
