Juanma Lillo was presented this Monday and it already looks like Al Sadd’s new manager Qatari, a position in which he relieves his compatriot Javi Gracia, who left the post a few days ago in agreement with the club. Lillo wants to “continue with the work of Xavi and Javi Gracia”.
Lillo, born in Tolosa (Guipúzcoa) 56 years ago, joins the Qatari champion, previously directed by Xavi Hernández, after two years as Pep Guardiola’s assistant on the Manchester City bench.
The Basque coach, who has signed for two seasons, has directed in his long career in Spain to teams such as Tolosa, Mirandés, Leonesa, Salamanca, Oviedo, Tenerife, Zaragoza, Ciudad de Murcia, Terrassa, Real Sociedad and Almería, in Mexico to Dorados de Sinaloa, in Colombia to Millonarios and Atlético Nacional, in Japan to Vissel Kobe and in China to Qingdao Huanghai. He was also Jorge Sampaoli’s assistant in the Chilean national team and in Sevilla.
