Marcelino stopped by the microphones of Radio Euskadi late on Monday as part of the program ‘Out of play’ and reviewed various current affairs related to Athletic. The Asturian coach spoke about his past and present at the Bilbao club without closing the door to a possible future still with Atletico. At the moment, as he assured, he has no offer on his table and discredits all the speculations that have arisen regarding the possibility of replacing Luis Enrique as coach.
Future in rojiblanco?
When asked in this interview on Radio Euskadi if he considered his stage at Athletic closed, Marcelino emphatically answered no. “Do not. You ask me what can happen and I don’t know what can happen. Besides, I don’t have that answer. Here there are elections and if I say correctly there is a candidate who has already publicly shown his intention to run, I believe that the elections have not yet been called. Everything is a process and the truth is that I am very calm and focused on my work”.
How long can you wait?
Marcelino indicated in this regard that “I don’t know until when because really today I don’t have any offer from any other club either. What concerns me and concerns me is work, being able to close this season in the best possible way and focus on the next game, against Atlético Madrid”.
Replacement of Luis Enrique
Regarding the speculations that place him as a substitute for Luis Enrique at the head of La Roja, the Athletic coach indicated on Radio Euskadi that “it seems to me a situation far from any real point of view because right now there is a coach who is doing frankly well , which has a World Cup next November and December. Marcelino also made it clear that “the contracting party has not contacted my representative. If they have the intention of getting involved in the future, they will do so in the appropriate time and manner and then we will see how events unfold.
