MADRID, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz has won the second ATP Masters 1,000 title of his career by beating Russian Andrey Rublev this Sunday in the final of the Shanghai tournament (China) (6-3, 3-6, 7-6(8)) .
Hurkacz, world number 17, even raised a match point in the tenth game of the last set, in which he forced the tie-break to win after two hours and nine minutes of play.
In this way, Hurkacz becomes the seventh active player with several ATP Masters 1,000 titles in individual mode, adding the one in Shanghai to the one achieved in Miami (United States) in 2021. Thus, he follows in the footsteps of Carlos Alcaraz (4), Alexander Zverev (5), Daniil Medvedev (6), Andy Murray (14), Rafa Nadal (36) and Novak Djokovic (39).
In addition, the man from Wrocław rose to eleventh place in the Race to Turin to compete in the ATP Finals for the second time in his career – he was already in the 2021 edition.
