Hubert Hurkacz is the new champion of the Miami Open and, as such, he is entitled to the juiciest check of a total amount of cash prizes that is significantly lower than the previous edition due to the effects of the pandemic. In total, 6,687,000 dollars are distributed (slightly more than 5.6 million euros), 65.65% less than in 2019 (in 2020 it was not disputed).
Of that figure, Hurkacz takes 252,301 euros, 77.96% less than Roger Federer, the last pre-pandemic champion. Jannik Sinner is entitled to 138,715 euros as a finalist. Roberto Bautista, who reached the semifinals, takes 78,185 euros for his part, the same as Andrey Rublev and 74.08% less than what was received in 2019 for the same round.
The distribution of prizes is the same in the female box. In this case, it is Ashleigh Barty who broke 252,301 euros, while Bianca Andreescu, defeated in the title match, pocketed 138,715 euros. The Spanish Sara Sorribes, who starred in a great performance reaching the quarterfinals, receives 51,282 euros, 67.24% less than what she would have had in 2019.
