Holger Rune continues to surprise in Santiago

Danish tennis player Holger Rune, who is ranked 410 in the ATP ranking, gave the surprise this Wednesday at the Chilean Open by beating Frenchman Benoit Paire in the round of 16, second seed of the tournament and number 29 in the world, by a resounding 6-2 and 6-3.

Rune will face Argentine Federico Delbonis in the quarterfinals, who this day beat the Slovak Andrej Martin 6-0 and 6-3.

In other results of individual matches, the Serbian Laslo Djere won 5-7, 7-5 and 6-3 against Portuguese Pedro Souza; and the Argentine Facundo Bagnis overcame 7-6 and 7-6 the American Frances Tiafoe.

This Thursday will debut in the tournament the favorite number one, the Chilean Christian Garín, number 22 in the world ranking, to be measured in the second round against his compatriot Alejandro Tabilo.

The Spanish will also make his debut Pablo Andújar, third seed and number 55 in the world ranking, who will face Colombian Daniel Elahi Galán in the same series of eighths.

The ATP 250 Chile Dove MenCare Open tournament is held on clay dust on the fields of the Club Deportivo Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo, in the capital of the country.
