The German Cup on Friday staged a nightmare for Hertha Berlin, defeated 5-4 by Eintracht Braunschweig, of the Third Division, and confirmed the predictable classification of Mainz 05, who beat TSV Havelse 1-5, four categories down, to advance to sixteenths.
The night was unbearable for Hertha, who lost 2-0 in a quarter of an hour, for an accurate free-kick and an unfortunate clearance on a corner kick. Although he was able to return everything to plan, with the 2-2 before half an hour, there were still many surprises left for the party.
The first, on the brink of rest, with the rejection of the penalty that meant the 3-2 for the Eintracht Braunschweig; the second, with Hertha's 3-3, when his opponent was able to add two more goals (5-3) and to seem like an insurmountable wall for the Berlin team; and the third and final with the elimination by 5-4.
Nothing to do with Mainz 05, who resolved their pass by 1-5, although their rival went ahead first. His five goals were in the second half.
