Helena Casas stays the doors of the keirin semifinals in the World Cup

MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Helena Casas has stayed this Sunday in the quarterfinals of the women’s keirin in the Track Cycling World Championship, which has been held in Paris, in a final day in which Erik Martorell finished eighteenth in the elimination, the same position that Ziortza Isasi has harvested in the score.

The Catalan, sixth in the keirin of the 2021 European Championship, controlled from the inside in a first round in which she agreed as second classified directly to the quarterfinals without having to go through the playoffs. Already in the quarterfinals, Casas was left at the gates of the semifinals after finishing fifth in a round in which the first four entered.

For his part, Erik Martorell finished eighteenth in an elimination dominated by the Italian Elia Viviani, world champion. Meanwhile, Ziortza Isasi finished in eighteenth place in a score in which she remained solid in the race and was won by the British Neah Evans, new holder of the rainbow jersey.

The Spanish National Team says goodbye to a World Cup in which they have won a bronze medal, which Alejandro Martínez achieved in the kilometer against the clock, where he also broke the Spanish record. The women’s pursuit quartet also managed to break the best national record despite Eukene Larrarte’s fall halfway through the test. In addition, Sebastián Mora was sixth in the scratch and Tania Calvo seventh in the elimination.
