MARBELLA (MÁLAGA), 9 Jan. (dpa/EP) –
The Borussia Dortmund striker Sébastien Haller, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer last summer, did not rule out entering the team’s next official call-up, on January 22, after completing almost all the sessions at almost total intensity, since the footballer considers that “everything is possible”.
“Now you can see that all the work of the last six months has been worth it,” Haller declared on Monday at the concentration of the German team in the Malaga city of Marbella.
The footballer continues to progress amazingly and hopes to reappear soon, after two operations and chemotherapy in recent months. “If the coach and the medical staff consider that I should play, I will,” said Haller, who did not want to categorically rule out a call-up for the first official match in the Bundesliga on January 22 against Augsburg. “Yes, everything is possible. In my mind there are no limits. I will do everything possible to be there,” he expressed.
The Ivorian striker, Borussia Dortmund’s most expensive signing and Erling Haaland’s main replacement, could even have a few minutes in Tuesday’s friendly match against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Haller was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in the testicles at the end of July, and in November he had to undergo a second operation, to now look forward to 2023, when it seems that his return is closer.
