Guardiola meets again with Dortmund, now on the City bench

The first duel that resulted in the draw for the quarterfinals of the Champions League was the Manchester City of Pep Guardiola in front of Borussia Dortmund of Haaland.

A duel that, despite being two teams already established in EuropeIt has only happened once in all of history and, moreover, it was in a group stage. Specifically that of the 12/13 season in which both coincided in group D together with Real Madrid Y Ajax in an extremely complicated group.

In that season, he was the Borussia Dortmund who won the individual duel to the English who managed to tie in the first leg in the Etihad (1-1) but they lost in the Signal Iduna Park by 1-0. It should be noted that in that course, the German team reached the final after beating the Real Madrid in 'semis' and fell in front of the Bayern Munich in Wembley.

Now, seven seasons later, the two meet again at the penultimate stop before lifting the trophy. A trophy that, by the way, the Germans do have but the English don't.

Guardiola, memories of Germany

And focusing on the personal case of Pep Guardiola, former Bayern Munich coach, the truth is that the record against Borussia is somewhat more intense but successful.

During his time in Germany, the Catalan coach crossed paths with the yellow box on eleven occasions in which he won six times, drew once and lost four, two of them in the Super Cup and German Cup finals.
