Griezmann decided Atlético’s last visit to Vallecas

The last time Atlético played in a league match in Vallecas was on February 16, 2019. That is, three years have passed since the party. On that occasion, Atlético won the game thanks to a goal from Griezmann in the 74th minute, when the match was heading into its final stretch. The Frenchman was decisive in the clash. The match corresponded to day 24 of the championship and in the second half Griezmann, Morata and Diego Costa coincided on the pitch.

The Spanish-Brazilian entered the field in the 59th minute for Vitolo. Atlético hardly had scoring chances against Rayo and Griezmann took advantage of one of them. Simeone’s team then formed with: Oblak; Arias, Gimenez, Godin, Filipe Luis; Vitolo (Diego Costa, 59′), Saúl, Rodri (Savic, 74′), Correa (Lemar, 59′); Griezmann and Morata. Three years after the match, only six Atlético players who played in the match are still in the team: Oblak, Giménez, Correa, Lemar, Savic and Griezmann.

The Frenchman had a great game at Old Trafford and is beginning to recover his previous level after being injured for a long time. Cholo knows that being physically fit he is a decisive player. He gets on well with João Félix and in the last two games Cholo has trusted this duo to train in attack. Correa, battered after the game played against Betis, has lost prominence, although he is still a very important player for Simeone.
