Griezmann: “An Atleti has been seen wanting to demonstrate”

MADRID, 15 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Atlético de Madrid player Antoine Griezmann highlighted the “desire to show” against Manchester United (0-1) to get the ticket to the quarterfinals of the Champions League and assured that they must go “step by step” before think about being able to win the title.

“We did a lot of work defensively so as not to fit in and Oblak had two or three stops… that’s the way to go. The most important thing is the sensations, a very strong, solid and compact Atleti has been seen wanting to show that they can be here. We can play these games and go further. It’s a source of pride to be here,” the Frenchman told Movistar.

Asked about his personal performance, Griezmann said that “against Betis” he already felt “good”. “No fear, I was fine. It’s true that I didn’t play a great game in Cádiz and today I wanted to show that I can help the team. I played a good game both in defense and attack,” he analyzed.

“Joao Félix? We understand each other well on and off the pitch. We’re enjoying ourselves upstairs, the pity is that I got injured and I’ve been out for a long time. But the teammate doesn’t matter, we understand each other well (…) Now we’re going to celebrate with our family, to enjoy a bit and to think about Saturday that we have a very important match. Feet on the ground”, he added.

For his part, his teammate Héctor Herrera highlighted Atlético’s order to win at Old Trafford. “Now it’s time to celebrate and be happy for the victory, and once again prepare for what lies ahead,” he also commented on Movistar.

“Yes, we knew that it was going to be very complicated and that we were not going to have control of the game as it was in the first leg, but I think we knew how we could hurt him and that’s how we did it. The team knew how to suffer and be orderly and that puts us in the next phase,” he analyzed.
