Ivo Grbic returned to Zagreb to complete your vacation after signing his contract with Atlético until 2024. The 24-year-old young goalkeeper, who has become the most expensive transfer of a Croatian goalkeeper sold from the local league after the 3.5 million that the colchoneros paid for him, spoke to the sports newspaper ‘Sportske Novosti’ on his feelings after reaching an important team on the European scene. “I am happy for everything I have done, but I stand firm and a new stage begins. At Atlético they told me that they had followed me for two years and that they believe in me a lot”.
A priori, Grbic arrives with the role of substitute of the undisputed Oblak, which can be a problem for a player who is still in his training stage. However, the meta assures that “I am not afraid of stagnation. I will be on the bench, I will train at the highest level and I will have a chance. I want to learn Spanish as soon as possible and adapt. This is a completely different football from Croatia; the Spanish league is the best in the world for me and I am sure that I will progress here and be a better goalkeeper than I am. It all depends on me, I have the opportunity to be in one of the best clubs in the world and I will work all I can to one day fight for a place in the Atlético goal”.
The goalkeeper knows that His signing for Atlético represents a great leap in his career from a Croatian team to the Spanish league, but he feels fully prepared for it. “If I wasn't prepared for such a big step I wouldn't even be coming here. And I know that in Madrid I will be a better person and a better goalkeeper. I am aware of the great challenge, but I am full of confidence in myself and wanting to succeed“.
