The draw was held in Nyon and matched the 48 teams into twelve groups of four, with the usual conditions: Teams from the same federation and clubs from Russia (CKSA Moscow) and Ukraine (Zorya) cannot be played against each other for political reasons. The format does not change and from these twelve groups, two will qualify for the round of 32, to which will be added the eight thirds of the Champions League group stage.
